In the Studios: Roeland Kneepkens – Telling Stories

For his works, Roeland Kneepkens likes to have genuine contact with the models he paints. They are family members, friends, and acquaintances of his, but also strangers. In that contact, Roeland observes and marvels: why do people come together, what clothes do they wear, how do they have fun, and what do they share with each other. This fascination with people and their actions is clearly reflected in his paintings. A large part of his work is about friendships. We see people in all kinds of situations. Laughing, talking, toasting, enjoying good food, or playing chess or poker.
